Reed has just ?pened an attractive stock of Spring and Summer Goods,'Which he has purchased at low figures, and is-onxious to dispose of at a reasonable profit. With an aiqple stock; embracing everything kept ia a retail establishment, Mr. Reed is prepared to do jnstice to bis customers, and willsatisfy the demands of an increasing business. M. Lesses, Agent, has returned from market j within the past few days, and brought a large and | complete stock of goods,, adapted to tho seaso n aad suited To the wants of all classes. Lesses always selb) cheap, and this explains tbe large trade enjoyed by him for a number of years. Of course, "all the world and the rest of mankind" intend to give him a call before thea season is far advanced. M. Heldman.v, dealer in Saddlery and Harness, ?is en hand this week with an attractive advertise? ment, setting forth the various inducements offer? ed by him ia that line. His stock is large and well selected, and wc are confident that hij goods and prices will please everybody. Kxesii & MeCoxLT announce that*"they are en gag6i in the purchase and sale of real estate. Parties desirous of selling any portion of their lands; would do well to consult these gentlemen, as their facilities to secure buyers are already great and constantly increasing. . Acckptasle PtisEXT.?We are in receipt of a package of Flour from Messrs. Towers k Brsniss,' put dp expressly for family use.# The high price of this almost indispensable article appeared to be alarming te consumers who were not producers, and these gentlemen have brought on a quantity of Northern flour, which has proven to be of the finest qiolity, and which they are enabled to sell at o reduced price. They offer to furnish custom? ers by the barrel or less, apd we take pleasure in saying that the quality is far superior to any oth er Flour we have been able to get in this market. Their auual stock of family supplies is not exhaus? ted, and :bey are anxious to wait upon the public generally. Further particulars may be obtained by refer?uce tc our advertising columns, and still more ipratifying information coli be had en application te kcadq turners. AovxitTtsiso.?It is silly for one to imagine that advertising "don't pay," for never was de? ception more -complete. Newspapers are intendei to-be the medium through which information is i-aparted te the public and ?ich advertisement meets ihn ?ye of many purchasers. As a practi? cal demonstration of our assertion, we will pub? lish the following, said to be true in eivch particu? lar Aa enterprising firm in the town of Portsmouth, commenced business in that place after the war, Vtta t capital of fourteen dollars, and their bank account during tbe month of January, footed up forty-eyhi thousand dollars. When asked the se? cret of their success, tho reply was "printer's ink." Sccth CJLEoLtjra Loa,n and Trust Com pan v.? Particular attention is invited to the advantages which this Institution affords to parties who desire te invest tbein funds temporarily. The ability to use such funds at short notice, and at the same time to derive interest t hereon, is thos amply secured. Executors, adminiiitratortt or trustees, also ladies unaccustomed te tbe general management of investments, will find this Compa? ny a convenient and sate depository for money. The Directors are well known citizens of Charles? ton. Acknowledgment.?Hon. J. P. Reed has again placed us under obligations to him for public docu? ments. We have received from Mr. Johm L. Hthuphhets, of New York, a copy of the Ulster County Gazette, published at Kingston, N. T., dated January 4, 1800. This interesting rtdic contains features worthy of mention at this day, and at a more leis ure time we shall recur to its pages. Our friend H. will accept many tfcanka for the kind attention. .?- T&? Spring trade of Charleston has been greater than at any time since the war. The prin? cipal hotels are filled with persons from every sec? tion ef the country. We are always glad to chron? icle the prosperity and advancement of the busi? ness Interests of Charleston. ? Thus far in his appointments to Cabinet and other positions, General Grant has manifested a great want of appreciation for those who have done most for him. .His colored brethren have been entirely ignored, which is decidedly unchari? table, when we remember that they made Grata President. ? Tbe small-pox is committing great ravages on ftae Pacific coast. Among tho recent deaths in Oregon is that of W. G. T'Vault, one of the pion? eers of Oregon, and formerly Speaker of the As? sembly, fie was the first editor who started a paper ia that State. Extra Family Flour ! THE undersigned offers to the planters of this and adjoining counties an IMPRO VED COTTON PLANTER, of his own invention, which has been used by him for the past two years with complete success. There are two kinds of this Planter ; one for planting the seed alone, by which a single hand can open the furrows, drop the seed, and cover at the same time, at the rate of five acres per day. The same amount of work can be ac? complished with the other, and in addition te open? ing the furrows, dropping the seed and covering, a separate.partition enables you to put in fertili? zers in any desired quantity to tho acre. It will plant either cotton, corn or peas, and give any distance that may be desirable, which is a great advantage over all other inventions of this kind. It is simple in its construction, and can bo mana? ged as easy us a plow. Persons wishing to examine this Planter will find one of each kind on exhibition at the store of Kieme k McCuiXT, No. 10 Granite Row, Ander? son C. H.
