At least such is the experienee of Drs. Liebroich, Richardson and Jacobi, who have ap plied it to several of their patients. Dr. Penj. McCready, however, thought it advisable to use the hydrate with great caution. Chloroform, ho said, had been in use a long tim' before it was discovered that it ruined the blood, and, if taken many times, the digos tive organs also. The persons men tioned as having been relieved by the new anesthetic, it should be said, were all suffering from afilictions compared with which poor blood and ia bad di gestion are trifles, The operatioi of the hydrate was illustrated oi three ra4bits. The first one shown had been under its influence fer more than 24 hours. The heat of its interior organs had boei reduced from 102 to 87 de grecs Fahrendheit., its respiratiois from 100 to 50, and its pulsatioins alNost obliterated.
