To the Ejitor of The Dispatch: I have been noting the wrangle about the bridge at or near Amick's Ferry. I would ask any fairminded man if he would not consider himself near a place if he wa9 in two miles of it? Again, the bridge at Amick's would be within 4 miles of Newberry and Saluda counties, and it would appear to be nothing but fair and just for these people to help in its con[ struction, as many of them are near i enough to nse it, while the people on hi side of Lexington County will never see it or use it when they are paying full value for its erection. | Then, again, they attack the matter by saying it was a put up job putting the bridge at Still Water, and that the final cost will be greater than at Amick's. They seem to forget that \ the bridge builders have to give bond for good perfoimance of contracts, and that these people offered to build j a bridge for about $7,000 less at Still Water. We did not know there was a bill to build a bridge or we certainly i wonld have protested; but think since there is to be one bnilt by the people of onr county that Still Water being more removed from outside lines, is a j more proper place.
