To-day, just a9 services began.in the churches, the fire whistle blew and the churches wfcre 90011 vacated. It was found that the house of Mts. Josie Pond was on fire. The firemen did valliant service, but the house was too far gone, and their work, so far as the house was concerned, was of no avail. The building was a large structure, and was run as a private boarding house. Near the building is a large blacksmith shop, and-the fire fighters directed .their teiiorts-towards saving it, which they did. 'Near the shop is.situated the Stanlard Oil tank, and if the 'shop had mrned, it is highly probable that tiis ank.wouid haye exploded.
