Wal ter Perry, a colored youth about seventeen years old, died in Columbia Saturday morning of typhoid fever and the remains were brought to iLexington on Sunday and interred in the Bethel cemetery. Roof, of Arcadia, Tenn., is visiting relatives and friends near Gilbert, and will preach the 4th Sunday morning at St. Paul's, (Hollow Creek, )< and at Cedar Grove in the afternoon of the same day at 3:30 o'clock. These congregations were t served by him for a number of years and his many friends will be glad to see and hear him again. Lever Invited to Greensboro. Congressman Lever has received an imitation from Gov. R. B. Glenn, of North Carolina, to be present at the Good Roads' Congress to be held at Greensboro, N. C., on the 13th of October. Rev. W. H. Killer Has Resigned. The Rev. W. H. Hilier, who has been the beloved pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran church for a little more than a year, has resigned, theresigna! tion to take effect upon the convening I of Synod next month. Mr. Hiller is one of the ! strongest preachers in the Lutheran | Synod, and it is generally regretted that he has been called to another j field.
