We learn that the husband, Sam Horton, of the negro woman who recently had small pox on Mr Clanton's place, near the Ilailo Gold Mine, mow has the disease,ami that his mother, Anne Horton, also has it. They are pronounced very light cases and no uneasiness is expressed about the spread of the disease. A guard is kept about the premises j to prevent any one going to the houso. The people of the vicinity ate not at all alarmed. Some say they don't mind having it if they can get off with as light cases as these parties havo. Dropped Dead Between Plow Handles. About 10 o'clock Mondav morning John Izard, a colored man working on the Kibler farm, about six miles South of town, i dropped dead while plowing in' the field. He hud made no complaint during the morning. He and his son were plowing together. I When the sou reuched the end of the row and was turning his mule ho noticed his fnther's mule com ing dragging the plow down the cotton row. Mr \V .1 Oglosby, formerly an engineer at the Lancaster Cotton t Mills hut who moved with hisi family to Chester the early part of this year, died Sunday afternoon after a protracted illness. j He was about 51 years of age and leaves his wife and several children, all grown, surviving him. He was a member of the K of P's and also the Jr. Order of Mechanics anil carried #2,000 insurance in the former and $250 in the latter fraternity. His remains were interred at Chester Monday afternoon. Members from both orders at this place attended the funeral. The County Democratic executive committee met Saturday in pursuance.of the call of the county chairman, J F Nishet, and fixed the assessments for candidates, passed on the question of candii dates for magistrates, fixed the schedule for the county campaign meetings and appointed managers of election.
