The union Thanksgiving serv ices held in the Presbyterian church Thursday morning wore well attended. An unusually fine sermon, appropriate to the occasion, was preached by the Methodist pastor, the Rev. R. E. Two cases against 'Sauire W. O. Bailes, of Pineville, whose work as a marriage artist has brought him notriety in two States, were tried in court here this week, the defendant being found guilty on both charges. In the case against him for living with a woman without submitting to the binding ties of a marriage ceremony he was fined $8.
