"But there’s only two teams playing base ball today, and I'm proud wfe were one of them.” It was Tanner's first career-trip to Omaha. He vowed never to at tend the CWS unless he was field ing a team to compete in the tour nament. The Gamecocks returned from Omaha on Sunday after noon and approximately 2,500 fans greeted the team at Sarge Frye Field. Tanner told the crowd that he al ready has his sights set on next sea son. "Yesterday we played for a na tional championship," he said. "Today we begin our quest to do it again." Center fielder/ second base man Justin Harris and catcher Landon Powell were named to the CWS All-Tournament for their ef forts in the Series. However, the Carolina starting catcher did not have time to savor the accolade. Powell was selected to play on the USA Baseball National Team and has already embarked on a 30-game tour with the squad. The Apex, NC native reported to the team on Monday in Tuscon, Ariz. Powell finished his sopho more campaign with Carolina bat ting .292 with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs. Each year, graduates of the past are in vited back to relive their days as un dergrads by participating in class es for four days... "with the promise of no homework!" The cost is $250 per person, which includes "all seminars, ac tivities, materials, tours and most meals.” Reduced rates are also made available to the returning graduates at the Clarion Town House Hotel and Suites on Gervais Street. The four-day event began on June 19 and ended on June 22. Like many students, he wonders about the necessity of such drastic tuition increases when so many building projects are going on throughout campus, such as the new arena and physical education center. "Is that the only way they can maintain facilities?" Hodge said. "It seems like they're doing all right if they're building all this." The university's budget also in cludes increasing tuition to USC's regional campuses by 28 percent and increasing tuition to the USC school of Medicine and Law School by 20 percent. Clemson University has announced a 15 per cent increase for the upcoming semester, while the College of Charleston is expected to increase its tuition by 20 percent.
