I'm sure everyone knows what the food guide pyramid is since every box of cereal and loaf of bread wears it like a billboard. And I'm even more sure everyone knows ifs important to eat low fat (especially since every food with low or no fat displays it like a neon sign). However, what does all this mean to you and your body? Well, there are a number of factors at work here. The pyramid does not, however, stop there. Your body also needs nutrients from the dairy and meat sections. This is where you can easily get a lot of protein, calcium and other nutrients. The key, though, is to notice that these sections are not as large as the vegetable, fruit and grain groups; therefore, for good health, your body doesn't need as much from these groups.
