While Comer maintains he is running to represent his district, the advantages a voting student would offer are monumental. His job in his words is "three-fold." He plans to represent the students, the 10th Judicial Circuit and do what is best for the state. What more can we ask for? His platform highlights making USC a more "user-friendly university and tp prioritize construction. Unfortunately, he is right in saying that we, as a nation, are moving towards acceptance of homosexuality, and many other moral ills for that matter. But the truth is that this trend will stop ? if not by our turn from sin, then by a direct and certain intervention of God. One of the most saddening and sickening testimonies to our current state of affairs is Mr. Bush's assertion that the relationship between Jonathan and David (called in the Bible "a man after Gods own heart") was a homosexual one. What kind of twisted interpretation of the Bible are you reading, Carson? Their relationship was one that reflected God's perfect love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13, not that of lovers. He goes on to say that an important aspect of the church is its accessibility to reform. The only time that reform has been necessary is when church doctrine has strayed away from its original intent. It is so unfortunate that many of today's churches are so ready to twist the Word of God in order to make certain groups feel okay about their sin. The truth is that "Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8, NIV)." Homosexuality is absolutely, unequivocally unbiblical. Mr. Bush's attempt at saying the tfihle never condemns a "loving, monogamous" relationship between two men or women shows a complete lack of knowledge of Scripture. Even the seventh-graders that I am discipling know how to use a concordance. Leviticus 18:22 says, "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; it is detestable (NIV)." Detestable is the word God chose to describe homosexuality to the Jews when this was written. To those who are so quick to dismiss the Old Testament as archaic, this is the same passage where sex with animals and incest are forbiddea Other passages that condemn homosexuality include Romans 1:26-27 and 1 Corinth. His iter in his competition is Robert avor. McLellen, a former House Ways and Means Committee chairman. Needless to say, it is going to be a tight race. Recent SG elections highlighted the importance of having a voting student on the board. Although this is not the reason Comer is running, it does mean that this will be the case. A lot of the lawmakers have already verbally committed to vote for Comer. We, as the people the actions of the Board of Trustees most affect, need to support Brian Comer. Carson, if your definition of morality is different from that of God, then it is wrong. It is that simple. While Jesus may not have directly spoken against homosexuality, neither did he speak against rape. The fact is that he did not need to, because he had already said it in the Old Testament. Jesus said, "I have not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Matt. 5:17, NIV). I believe there is no such thing as a homosexual, only those who, through satanic deception, are made to believe they were made gay. Do not misunderstand me; I am not saying "homosexuals" are evil or satanic. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that this war is not against flesh and blood, but against powers of Satan, which are quite active in our country today. My proof of this assertion is in the success that homosexual recovery groups have found through the healing power of Jesus Christ. There is hope for the man who thinks he is gay or the woman who believes she is a lesbian. Jesus loves you, and he died so that you can be freed from homosexuality and other sins. You can find peace and eternal life by asking him into your heart now! This is not a message of hate, as I am certain many will say. It is so unfortunate the church has been quicker to condemn than to love the deceived men and women who are looking for love in all the wrong places. We can not be afraid to go to these people and say, "Jesus loves you and so do I. There is freedom!" No, this is not a message of hate, but of hope.
