Upon entering the parking lot, it was immediately brought to my attention that about half of the people that came didn't attend the game at all because of: 1) lack of tickets; 2) severe intoxication; 3) unconsciousness due to severe intoxication; or, my favorite 4) oblivious to the game due to severe intoxication. After finding my friends, we all meandered to the vicinity of the fraternity tents, where it seemed like a high school reunion, with just about every one from my old high school in Charleston congregating in one spot. Then, as if this was surprising, a fight broke out under one of the tents. One of my friends, who had his share of alcohol as well, jumped on the two to, I assume, try to break up the fight. After one or two people jumped on my friend, I figured that I, the sober and right-minded one, would intervene to try to break up the fight. As I walked away, giggling at the ineptitude of these esteemed fraternity brethren, I asked one of my friends what the hell the meaning of a "GDI" was. He told me that the acronym was meant for all nonfratemity brothers, who are labeled "God Damn Independents." Sorry, guys. I guess I was misinformed when I came to this university. I guess trying to obtain an intellectual education in college is not meant to be. And finally, I guess that I should try to change my independent thinking to group thinking. Sorry, guys.
