USC sweeps documentary editing awards Professors David Chesnutt, Joel Myerson and George Geckle won awards at the annual Association of Documentary Editing meeting. Staff Reports USC swept all 1995 Association of Documentary Editing awards recently at tne organization s annual meeting. The international organization presented awards to USC professors David Chesnutt, Joel Myerson and George Geckle. Chesnutt, a history professor and editor of the Heniy Laurens Papers, was given the Boyd Award, the association's highest award. Given every three years, the award recognizes lifetime contributions made to American history and culture through documentary editing. It is given in honor of Julian Parks Boyd, the late distinguished editor of The Papers of Thomas Jefferson. Myerson, an English professor, received the Lyman H. Butterfield Award. Named after the distinguished editor of the Adams papers, the award is presented annually to an individual, project or institution for recent contributions in the areas of documentary publications, teaching and service. Myerson is the first literary editor to win the award, which previously has honored institutions such as Johns Hopkins University Press and projects such as the George Washington Papers editions. The ABE'S newest award, the Jo Ann Boydston Essay Prize, was given to Geckle for his essay review of three editions of "Dr. Faustus in Text 7" (1995). Geckle, the first recipient of the award, teaches British Renaissance literature, the works of William Shakespeare and drama in USC's English department. Arresting officers observed two black men, 30-year-old Kenneth Meeks Finch and 19-year-old Tieyam Lyddle Davis, acting in a suspicious manner at the incident location. The officer observed the suspects i cutting open the convertible roof of one vehij cle, subsequently removing the car stereo, several speakers, and a cellular telephone from the inside of the vehicle.
