Titled, "The Ultimate College Survival Giude," (Peterson's, Princeton, NJ), the book examines every aspect of college of life, including getting along with professors, doing laundry, joining a sorority or fraternity and living with a gay roommate. "We wrote the book because, when my daughter was entering college, we went to workshops for parents and those parents kept asking the same questions that paretns have bear asking about college for years," Farrar said. "Because I wrote the book with my daughter, who graduated from college in 1985,1 think it has the freshness of youth and the wisdom of someone who has been around universities for a while." Although the book, which is already in its second printing, is intended for college-bound youths, it is a useful resource for parents, particilarly for those who did not attend college. "Many of the parents haven't gone to college, and they don't understand some of the experiences their children will be going through," Farrar said.
