Future becoming here an Help availab By RADHAKI TALWANI Staff Writer As the end of the fall semester quickly approaches, students begin to line up potential summer jobs. For seniors, however, the search is not a summer job, it is for a career. A "Senior Survey," distributed to a random number of USC seniors, found out exactly what USC seniors are planning to do after graduation. Results show that only 80 percent of those surveyed will be graduating | this May. Of the 20 percent who plan to graduate, only about half have a ^ definite job lined up after graduation. But for those who don't have a job yet, don't despair. Help is available to job-seeking students through the University Career Center's USC Placement Center. The Placement Center offers a variety of services aimed at helping the graduating student. m One such service is the On-Campus Recruiting Program, in which employers come to campus to interview students for jobs. Students are eligi-\l; ble to participate in this program as soon as they have completed 90 semester hours (or are within two semesters of graduation). The only requirement is to attend a placement orientation to become acquainted with the services and processes offered. The center will begin accepting resumes from students on Nov. 4 for the spring semester to distribute to some employers. The remaining schedule for the 45-minute placement orientations for the fall semester are Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. If students are unable to attend either of these, placement orientation videos are also available. Another service offered to job hunters is USC Search, a resume referral service used by local and regional employers who have immediate job openings. The national service similar to this is KINexus, a national data base. Finally, other services include workshops on resume writing, job cMirhec intprviAu/ tprhninnp.5 anrt carver POflls.
