'"Ihis is a very natural process," he said, "and if any effort is involved, the person is meditating the wrong way." Bill Stackhouse, a former meditator, said meditation also had some physical effects on him. "I became- less nervous and clamed down after I started meditating,"',he said. lAck of time caused Stackhouse to drop meditation, but he said he is thinking about starting back again. Parris, who Is a member of Students International Meditation Society (SIMS), said there are more non-students than students who meditate. SIMS has a center in Columbia with a teacher of meditation, he said.
