"This department has never had a program that prepared people to do anything," he said. Requirements for applying for the program are completion of psychology 101, 225 and an agreement to become a psychology major. Emfinger said the project would have a maximum of 20 vacancies for the first trial period. The program will last three semesters. The second is a two week introduction to each of six state agencies where students will work eight hours per week. Students will work at one of the six agencies for one week of eight hours and then move to another agency each successive week. The third semester will have the student working for only one agency for eight hours per week. Under senate legislation, senators are only allowed three unexcused absences from their weekly meetings. He said a list of other grade requirements had been devised and will be discussed at meetings for ap plicants Monday and Tuesday. Emfinger said application meetings would be held each day and applicants need only attend "The number of excused ab sences is not limited," Leventis said. Senators may get excused absences for such things as sickness, a class conflict, or a job. The role of the senate for the period starting in January shows that five senators have had at least one excused absence. The role for the same period also shows 14 senators have at least one unexcused absence.
