Worksho GRACIE PEARMAN The purpose of the state-wide workshop on the Equal Rights Amendment held Saturday by the National Organization of Women (NOW), was "to inform, ' to discuss...to seek justice, in short, to seek truth," Caroline Fredrick, keynote speaker said. The issue discussed was the proposed 27th Amendment to the Constitution, which would insure undet- law the equal rights and responsibilities of men and women. The workshop was held as a means for developing strategy for ratifi cation of the amendment and to inform the public of what the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) really is. "People are the primary and ultimate concept," said Fred rick, Greenville County Rep resentative. Fredrick has been a co-sponsor in introducing ERA into the South Carolina House of Representatives this year and last. She recounted the approval of the amendment in the U. S. The House approved the amend ment by a vote of 354 to 23 on October 12,1971, and the Senate passed it on March 22, 1972 by a vote of 84 to 8. Both S. Women, she said, would be on an equal basis with men, thus entitling them to military benefits, such as given full consideration n.
