Pierce said excluding press from meetings dealing with "Confiden tiality of Personnel Records" was not valid under the 1972 Freedom of Information Act. It was conjectured that the board would be discussing football Coach Paul Dietzel's sal ary and contract with the Univesity during the closed session. T. Eston Marchant, board chairman, reported after the meet ing that Pierce's objec tions had been discus Bates I criticize sed, but the board had voted to continue its pol icy on discussing person nel contracts with the press barred. Mungo said personnel contracts with the state should be consi dered "public domain." Page 2. Il 7 4i neetings employe. Mungo said nothing was discussed in the meeting about Dietzel's contract that could not have been made public. "In my opinion Coach Dietzel will voluntarily make public the terms of his contract." Mungo said that since Dietzel has already partially dis closed some of the con tract's terms there was no reason for the board to withhold full dis closure. "In the long run we're going to have to open these meetings up anyway," Mungo said. In its open session the board discussed eight items on its agenda.
