Other officers elected were Bill Peevy, vice-president; Maxine Oliver, -secretary; Theresa Banner, treasurer, and R. E. Dusenberry, social chairman. Tentative plans were made to hold the annual Jiorry-Carolina Christmas dance- in conjunction with the Clemson-Horry club. Herty, de artment head. "In the past four years the ef iciency of the mechanical engi eering department has increased lmost 100 per ,cent," he said. In 1943 the department had ittle equipment ana few class ooms, but the Navy may be com nended for bringing new methods ,nd standards to the University, Ierty said. Radio Broadcasting Olass Gives Program yn Campus Activities University English students in adio broadcasting plan to give lO-minute programs weekly over adio station WIS starting in No rember, Frank Hardin, class in structor, announced yesterday. Class members will write, pro luce, and put on the entire show. Each member will be assigned to team for one week. In order to get experience in all phases of 'adio work, teams will be rotated ,veekly. "This program has a two-fold purpose," Hardin said, "It will give each student experience and i working knowledge in planning and carrying out a series of pro crams. This new fellowship program has as its purpose the discovering of students of unusual ability and helping them secure further edu cation, according to a bulletin re ceived by the university. The pro gram is administered by an inde pendent group of educators who comprise the Pepsi-Cola Scholar ship board, and 'are offered by the Pepsi-Cola Co. Any college student receiving a degree during the 1947-48 school year may apply for one of the fellowships.
