Chief Barrett is certainly doing some clever work in catch ing up tho parties who are Gell ing liquor in and around town. By watching certain parties closely Saturday night he traced a "tiger" to his den. On Mon day he took the trail and with proper warrants assisted by Dep uty HinsonJ and assistant Jos eph Ingram raided the home of John and Sarah Johnson south of the depot and captured 12 quart and 4 pint bottles guod whiskey. The stuff was hid in a briar patch back of the house but the officers found it. Sarah Johnson and Frank Edens were arrested and are in jail. The chief says there are others which he hopes to break up soon. Mr. McElrone, Columbia cen tenarian, if he lives through next Tuesday, will have achiev ed that which is given to the lot of few men.
