J j WHY NOT US { * * * j Since announcing to our sudsciibers that after January 1st we would , increase ,the subscription foprice of The Lexington Dispatch-News to $1? 50 per year, we have had quite a large numl er of our old subscribers come in and pay for a year in advance. We are glad to see them do this, for really we regret the fact that circumstances force as to ask< a $1.50; but in keeping with every, thing else, the cost qf paper, ink, j| labor and all printing material has . increased to the extent that we can - e longer continue to put out a pa-[ at $1.00 per year. In fact there are many reasons why the subscrip tion price of a weekly peper should!; be increased where the rates are mr below the standard of war price.. The /first ot tnese reasons is mai the puUisher who does not increase his rates will fiot be able to continue his publication, on the standard of efficiency and value to his community his paper has or should be r*<giving. i -i There is not now, and never has ?*; been, any reason for the existence of any newspaper that is not of val - ne to the community in which it is published. But the community can. ] sot afford to lose any newspaper that is of value, and the people will sot willingly sacrifice that which is of value to them as a whole, and as individuals for the; small sum of one or two cents per week. We ask our friends to "stay with us" and we will | ~ 4o onr best to earn it j HHBHBHWBHHBHfflHKSHHBBSBHBHBMB . bb^ V n ; ^B ? |B '^^^B ^B * BH IB , m^m Ti-y, -^^B * * ^1 ^^^B< ^BBBP sflBRBBfiS BB'.'-%r^ .'" ; - ; '"'* n.-> \* J: J,!." t5"\ ' :. . a?v ? ??
