Come look them over. .Manager Swansen Goes To Atlanta for Fall .Meeting of District Convention. A. J. Swansen, manager of the lo cal J. C. Penney, Co. store, left Sun day for Atlanta, where he will attend the fall convention of the J. C. Pen ney Co., to be held at the Biltmore hotel in that city. The convention opened on Monday and will continue for the balance of the week. Representatives from the New York office of the J. C. Penney Co.,, who will be present'at the convention and preside over the general session, will include Chairman G. T. Mitchell, per sonnel department; L. A. Martin and G. L. Williams, district managers; E. H. Kilbourne, real estate department. Seven buyers for important merchan dise divisions will also be present. The fall convention at Atlanta is one of 15 district convention meetings held at central points throughout the country and attended by,over 1400 J. C. Penney Co. store managers, “The fall convention this year,” said Mr. Swansen, “will be largely devot ed to sales promotion, in line with the gold star sales contest recently inau gurated by the company. This contest is not only to increase sales but to im prove service to the public by bring ing individual clerks in closer contact .with the entire organization, thus giv ing them a better understanding of ef ficient selling methods. “This year has already seen the greatest growth ever made in the de velopment of the J. C. Penney Co.
