When children die, their forms appear Bright-shining in the Heavenly sphere; Though;iost to larth, to Heaven a gain, Their souls iu blisa eternal reigo. Through flowery vales their spirits go, Where murmuring waters ever flow; The saints with joy the vision see, And harps breathe forth new melody. Celestial view, how bright and fair To holy mothers watohing there! Watching Until their children rise To meet .them in the starry skieB. The Saviour leads them forth with joy, Where tin'a pollutions ne'er destroy; He : :du their souls like buds unfold in Axiom's mansions manifold. Then why should tears of sorrow flow For those who knew no sin below, Transplanted, by a Father's care, To bloom in Heavenly fields more fair? Beyond the stars, where Eden lies, They rest e'ermore, with tearless eyes; There mothers, when their sorrows oease. Will olasp them to their breasts in peace. O, from my soul my babe is torn! Yet shall I weep, or, joyless, monrn? He lives with God, with angels bright, Sings sweetly in tho fields of light. A star of Heavenly ray Berene, In Faith's nnelonded sky is seen; 'Tis shining?shall I wake or sleep? To guide mo o'er the stormy deep. Then cease my grief; my joy awakel Tho, storm-clouds in the Heavens break r Tho son appears, with beaming ray, And smiles my shining tears away. Sunday.?How gratefully this day comes to as, who have toiled, oh, so hard, for? six days. It is tbe day set apart for the toilers of earth and nono others appreciate it. It's hard to do just as we ought to and to"remomber the day to keep it holy," for, turned out, as it were, as a parcel of children from school, we are too apt to spend the day in worldly recreations and en? joyments. But let's all go to churoh, return thanks that our worse than unprofitable lives have thus far been spared, and try to advance one Sab? bath day's journey further toward the Celestial City, Am Appeal IN BEHAU? OF THE DESTITUTE ORPHANS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. Notwithstanding tbe applause of the many and seeming appreciation of that noble oharity, the Palmetto Ophaus' Homo, bo much needed and so well conducted, located in Columbia?with the good it has already accomplished in rescuing from want, ignorance and, in many eases, from haunts of vice, destitute orphans?we are sorry to ad? mit that snob an institution has been crippled in its sphere of usefulness and allowed to languish for want of aid ne? cessary to its successful career; and that the support and instruction of tbe present happy family of orphans shel? tered within its walls should he allowed to depend on but few oontribntions. However willing those few may be to devoto their energy and means in aid of the enterprise, they are, unable themselves to carry the entire burden, consequently forced to appeul to the people at large to assist in the good work of establishing the Palmetto Or? phans' Home on a permanent basis. The Home is not sectarian or deno? minational. The Trustees cu:)sist of members from the different branches of the ohursh. The children are reli? giously trained at home and iu the several Sunday schools; during the week they are instructed by a compe? tent teacher, with special i-efereuce to future usefulness. It is now a ques? tion whether or notBUohan institution in our midst, based entirely upon oha? rity and love, with no paid official, be supported, or shall it, for want of means, be-abandoned? and the or? phans now supported and edncated therein be' thrown npon tbe world destitute and friendless. Reader, if yoa favor tho former pro? position, oome at once to the rescue. Donations of money, provisions and clothing will be acknowledged in tbe ''Orphans' Appeal," a neat family Super, published in tbe interest of tbe tome, at $1 per annum. All commu? nications should be directed to "Pal? metto Orphans' Home, P. O. Box 169, Colombia, 8. 0.!'. Papers friendly, to the above enter? prise will please copy.
