4 Farm, Garden and Household. A Stable Door. EDIToR SOUTHEUN CULTIVATOR. -i the experience ofmany plan ters, the stable door is nearly as hard to keep in staru quo, as the farm-gate. To be strong and durauw, a stable door should be made of choice inch plank with the battens put bn the outsafe. Cut the middle batten 8 or 10 ineheq Ion-er than the width of the door that it may lap over the door-pv) or lating when the door is closed. Drive a long, stout staple crosswise into the door-post. leav ing about 2! inches out; and make a mriiso !'ithwise in the end of the middle batten to let t.e staple through when closing the door. Fasten tho door with a strong wooden pii in the staple, and the muic that is ilside the stabl, w! stay there until he is turned out. i may paw and bang all da3 long but can do no damage. There is no batten within reach of hi, hoots. 1t is on the outside, rend ering the door impregnable againAt his heaviest attacks. J. A. H. Sumter County, S. C., DLcenb r, 1872. To PREVENT CATTLE JUMPING. -A correspondent of the Vermont Farmer thus describes an if'n provel pike oi* jumping stik: First, put a piece across the horns. Drive three or four shingle iailo. ground sharp, into this end, let in;L them come through three-four - of an.ineh. so that as soon as th, animal- makes an eflort to rais, his head to jump the *ence. - h( nails will soundly priek his back. and he nill be :tit to' frisk hi ta;" and start for i me feed th is easier to be ob-tLined.
