Mr. Ambrose Richardson, of Columbia, came up to see his father, Mr. J. R. W. Richardson, cn Friday. Mr. R. B. Shealy is having his residence painted which adds much to the appearance of the surroundings. Mr. Samuel Derrick left last Monday for Columbia, where he has accepted a position in a furniture store. Yonco, of Florence, preached Sunday morning in Salem church, and at night in the Lutheran church in Leesville. He will leave tomorrow wi.h Rev. W. H. Greever to attend the meeting of the general council, which meets in Minneappolis, Minn., this week. He was here in the interest of the church in Florence. Mrs. Walter D. Hendrix and children have returned from High Point, N. C., where they have been visiting seven weeks. Rev. S. C. Ballentine vill administer the Holy communion in St. Peter's church next Sunday afternoon. Quite a pleasant day was enjoyed near here last Saturday at Mr. A. E. Derrick's ginnery, in the form of a free barbecue. It was furnished by the community, consisting largely of Derricks, Swygerts, jShealys, Addys, Bedenbaughs, and others. It was a day of feasting and social, pleasure. Four pastors present made addresses as follows: Revs. J. C. Wessinger, 0. C. Peterson, S. C. Ballentine and J. Austin. Fully 200 people were present. The dinner was'prepared by Mr. Job Swygert, and was fit for the gods. Mrs. F. H. Hendrix and children are visiting Mr. Lee Etheredge of Augusta. Mrs. S. C. Ballentine and two children will visit old friends in the Fork this week. The Leesville Oil Mill has been much enlarged and improved. In some cases, the capacity has been doubled.
