State freshman before trans ferring to USC when Ray Tanner was hired after the 19% season. Everett won the Taylor McEn tire Most Valuable Player award after leading the Gamecocks to a 44-18 record and a berth to the Atlantic 1 Regional at Coral Gables, Fla. The Gamecocks were knocked out of the re gional by the North Carolina Tarheels. Everett was also one of three Gamecocks named to the All-SEC team ii 1998. joining teammates Mike Cuny and Kip Bouknight Everett was traded to the Houston Astros in the 1999 off-season for out fielder Carl Everett. Hank Small Bats: Right Throws: Right Bom: 7/31/53 Position: First Base Resides: Atlanta, Ga. Hank Small is the most prolific power hitter in Gamecock history. In 1975, his 19 home runs and 66 RBIs led USC to their first College World Series. USC was defeated by Texas 5-1 in the championship game. iman was an All-American in 1974 and 1975 and was signed by the Atlanta Braves after his senior season. He led his AAA team in home runs and was the Interna tional League’s MVP, but he got only four at bats with the Braves in 1978 - the only action he saw in the majors. Small holds the Gamecocks’ career home run record with 48 and is a member of the USC Athletic Hall of Fame. In Small’s time at USC, the Gamecocks compiled a 15045-1 record. Small compiled a .354 career batting average, plac ing him seventh on the USC all-time list. He is also third all-time in RBIs with 184 and sec ond in total bases with 433.
