Lucas in Greenwood for the past week has returned home, accompanied by by her brother Claude. Mrs. Lucas aud Miss Maude also spent a short time in txreenville attending commencement exercises at Furman University. lu tax collections the county's record has been broken this year. Out of a possible collection of #120,000, there has been collected $108,000,- leaving only #12,000 to go to executions. It is notable also that the county is practically out of debt, owing only #15,000 at 51 per cent interest. The Womans Missionary Union of the Chesterfield Division was held at llopewell llabtisl Church Juue 8th. There was a large attendance and an excellent program rendered. This was pronounced the best meeting the division has ever held and The Advertiser regrets being unable to publish the program in full. Eighteen , joined the Methodist, church and ^ three went to the Cheraw Baptist x church. The regular Wednesday night . prayer meeting will continue j but the young people of the comj munity will relieve ti e pastor of j this burden. About twenty-five have pledged their service in t the prayer meeting. 3 Mr. llarrelson did seme good preaching and the responses were without excitement but ~ with determination. The laat two services were given to ad, vices for the future and the converts have no hope of remaining J, steadfast, save by getting busy for their newly found Lord. The pastor, ltev. Paul T.
