E. church Sunday, September 14th. The entire church was deeply grieved and shocked. He died Thursday morn ing, September 11, 5- o'clock after a sudden illness on Wednesday night. The previous raght, Mr. Thompson was in service and fulfilled 'his duty as a choir mem- , ber. His voice was last heard by many Tuesday night when the Evangelist Sister Nesby asked some one to sing one hymn in the old familiar tune, It was* Mr.' Thompson's voice that^wai. .heard fcrr the Tast timer , 1 At 3:30 o'clock the remains were brought"to the church. Nash. ?^'The beautiful gray brocaded plush casket was before the altar, upon it was a large bunch of gladiolus, maiden hair fern. Surrounding the casket was a profus ion of flowers from white and colored friends. Mr. Thompson was in life president .of the senior choir and a steward. Words of love, esteem and re?-? ?epect - weie uttered by "-various repi esentatives per program. The_ lovely tribute from the heart and pen of Mrs. Lillian Dendy was r?ad by Mrs. Dendy. Mr. v Hale f Shand (white) spoke beautiful, no I higher respect could hav<e been given a man of our race from the lips of a white man. He stressed two vital things about Mr. Thomp son. In all these positionsr-he always worked for the betterment of the church and ita members. It is true we will miss him. We will miss him, we'll miss that sweet voice, but let us bow our heads in reverancp for what is our lost iB heaven's gain.
