CHURCH Friday night, August 16tb ended a very successful two weeks of } Vacational Bible School at Emanuel A. M. E. Church. This Bible school was organized by Rev. H. Hughes a n d Rev. Henderson, Mond.'y August 5th. The official staff was as follows: Mrs. Maggie Dennis, director; Miss-Sara Washington, superintendent, Miss Eva Roseborough, secretary; Mr. Edgarbist Williams, treasurer. Burton During the summer I have had the opportunity of visiting1 difTeront sections of the State, and witnessing several revival meetings that have been had-. Rev. D. A. Johnson of Allen University, who preaches at Cedar Creek A. M. E. Church, near Columbia,- S. C., hegan his meeting on the 12th. -of August, which lasted through the ployed as his speaker for the week S. C. ?? e Each night the church was packed to its utmost capacity with b.oth white and colored, and Rev. Gamble who is an eloquent speaker as well as a preacher was at his best each night, breaking to ,theni the bread of life. This meeting was brought to a close on Friday night at which time the minfsler spoke from the 13th chapter of St. Luke, 20th verse, "And they shall come from the rtorth, south, east, and west, and shall sit themselves down in the Kingdom of God." This waft a sOul-stirring message which touched all of the people, and somo eight or tdn adult persons} including minister.*. and sinners jpined the church and offered themselves to the service of God respectively.
