Bishop Brooks sustained his refutation anions those who knew h'^i, and added many as adherents to his gospel message by - his splendid deliverance, There-were many who were on the road to infrdeiity because of the absence of justsuch a message who were heard by a Palmetto Leader reporter to say: "Why hasn't such-a gospel messenger appeared among ~u"s~ during all these years ? And, by the way, "This is as it should be" is among Mrs. Hughes' favorite expressions Tuesday evening, a welcome meeting was held at the Auditorium of Allen University. This-.meetlng was presided over by the queenly wife, not only queenly but democratic, of the Reverend Reverdy G. Ransom, Bishop of the diocese embracing South Carolina in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. This meeting was followed by a banquet in the school's dihittg hall. ? ? The -meeting Wednesday were extraordinary in the. content of the messages that were delivered. At the morning sessions many helpful messages were delivered by Mesdams A. L. Matthews, M S. Pearson, L. M. ?Johnson and M. V. Tuolto/.
