C NEWS Of all years this is one in which tobacco growers .should go in for quality and not quanity. For .those who desife 'to produce some good LtoboooQ| I have?aorne?information came from my father 0who was qurte a tobacconist. Father~began growing tobacco at an early age. He found that there are better times than others for" harvesting tobacco in order for it tocure nicely arid be rich and "waxy." ?In explanation, let me state that tobacco has an oily substance which is its natural po^ession. It also has a sap (water) which comes and goes at intervals during the life of the plant. . Whetr the sap rises it runs the oil out through the poses of the leaf to the surface where it former a "gum" well known to all tobacco crowers. Oil ond water dn not mix and oil being- the lighter is forced oQt__as_started^ and tobacco haivested in this condition will cure badly and be dark and worthless. But, ' harvest-.tobacco when full of- oil it will cure easily and niJely and be r\h, weighty and waxy.._ The oil can not evaporate in the process of curing, Vke the sao doec, and remains to give wealth to the weed. I shall be glad *o answer and cor respondence. from tobacco growers, provide I postage is sent for reply. W. H. Davis. - ? Mocksville, N ,?Q, H. F. F. No. 3. BROOKLYN, -V Y. NEWS Mi's.
