Hames has returned from Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore and left Monday for Columbia to enter the hospital for an operation. Mrs. W. H. Lancaster of Whitestone and Mrs. F. H. Mr. Ren Goodman, an experienced mechanic, has recently heen employed bv tho Union Motor Go. Mr. Goodman has had several years of experience in automobile repair shops, and is an expert workman. Mrs. Ernest Auphtry, who has been the puest of her sister, Mrs. Shepard Nicholson, for several days, returned to her home in Columbia last week. Mrs. Nicholson accompanied her for a short visit. Milhous manager, has sold a Dodge roadster to Mr. TT. B. Jennings, manager of the Union-Buffalo Mills, and a touring car to Chas. W. Ooforth, a member of the firm of the Eagle C.rocery Company. Mr. B. W. Snarks. who lives eight miles west of Union, on Route 2. suffered a painful accident last week. He was cutting a tree when the axe caught in an overhanging branch and Hanced. cutting an ugly gash in his foot. The friends of Chief of Police Miln Evans will he glad to know that he is able to he out again after a ten days' illness. He suffered a fall by stenning on an orange peeling, inuring the knee can. which was just getting well from a fall he sustained several months ago. , The Barge canal is the old Eric canal and its tributaries deepened and otherwise improved, connecting the Hudson river at Albany with the Great Tiakes at Buffalo.
