Vaughan, while driving home Monday night from Union, where he was a juryman, happened to the misfortune of having a runaway scrape. He was attempting to pass a wagon, when both mules got on the run and tore the harness up. His mule ran from Aetna to the place formerly owned by H. M. Grintball, then turned and came back and submitted to being caught. There is no counting on what a mule will do. The Rice Drug Co. Meeting of County Commissioners. At the last meeting of the board of county commissioners, which was held on Monday, the old soldiers' list was revised, new names being added and old names having the monthly amount increased. The board took up the beneficiary list and struck out everything on it except the totally blind. Now when a person applies for aid to the commissioners and they are fit subjects for the poor house they will be cared for there. Mr. S. G. Howell was elected superintendent of the poor farm and notice was given to Mr. J. Fincher Belue to turn over the affairs to Mr. Howell within ten days. It is reported that Mr. Belue says he will hold the place under the appointment of the old board until he is put out by legal process.
