IE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Union.
South Carolina, in council assembled,
and by authority of same,
Section I. That it shall be unlawful
any person to approach qcarer
han twenty feet to any passenger
oach or train at any passenger depot
dthin the corporate limits of the
nwn of Union, S. C., soliciting pasengers,
baggage or other commodiies.
Sec. 2. Any person or persons conicted
of a violation of this ordinance,
hall be fined not less than One Dollar
or more than One Hundred Dollars,

ays.

A Runaway Scrape.
Mr. J. V. Vaughan, while driving
home Monday night from Union,
where he was a juryman, happened to
the misfortune of having a runaway
scrape. He was attempting to pass
a wagon, when both mules got on the
run and tore the harness up. His mule
ran from Aetna to the place formerly
owned by H. M. Grintball, then turned
and came back and submitted to being
caught. There is no counting on what
a mule will do.

Meeting of County Commissioners.
At the last meeting of the board of
county commissioners, which was held
on Monday, the old soldiers' list was
revised, new names being added and
old names having the monthly amount
increased.
The board took up the beneficiary
list and struck out everything on it
except the totally blind. Now when a
person applies for aid to the commissioners
and they are fit subjects for the
poor house they will be cared for
there.
Mr. S. G. Howell was elected superintendent
of the poor farm and notice
was given to Mr. J. Fincher Belue
to turn over the affairs to Mr. Howell
within ten days. It is reported that
Mr. Belue says he will hold the place
under the appointment of the old board
until he is put out by legal process.

Death of Robert Noland.
Robert Noland, son of Mr. and Mrs.
T. B. Noland. died Tuesday night and
was buried Wedllesdnv nftnrnnon ?>t
the city cemetery. Rev. L. L. Wagnon
conducting the funeral exercises.
Young Xoland was about 19 years
of age, and up to a few days before
his death was at the county rock
quarry.
