A glowing report of the meeting of the 8tato Federation was given by Mrs. B. G. ClifTork, who attended the meeting recently held in Columbia. The Missionary mass meeting held at the Presbyterian church Sunday evening was not largely attended owing to the had weather. Those who did go, however, were well paid. Rev. W. H. Hudson, the speaker of the evening gave a most instructive and entertaining address on missions. Mr. Trefzercame over from Union, S. C., Saturday and spent soveral days in Elberton mingling with hjs many friends here. He is very popular In Elberton and we would be delighted to have him return and renew his citizenship here. The South Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs met in Columbia last eek, from April 21st to 24th. Williams is a line speaker and exressed to the S. C. Federation the symathy of Minnesotta women in all the ecuhar difficulties that beset tire daughsrs of tire old Palmetto State. In peaking of lite work done by the Minesota Federation of Women's Clubs, Irs. Williams mentioned their effort to et legislation enacted for the presetvaion of the forest at the head of the lississippi river. She was chairman of he committee of ladies sent to Washngton to solicit the influence of the Minlesota representative in l>ehalf of that aeasure. Contrary to their expectaions, this influence was used against hem and Mrs. Williams said: "Our epresentative the next autumn appeared efore the people for re-election. Now re Club women did not organize to deeat him, not at all, but he didn't go inck to Washington, and his successor rat wiser. We got the legislation that re wished." The reports and discussions of the kindergarten and the Library Extenion Uepartments were very interesting ind showed that good work is not only wing mapped out but accomplished by hese earnest women.
