On Tuesday two couples came in from BnlTalo bent on getting married. I'hey wont to Mrs. Briggs home and a minister was sent for. In the meantime the mother of one of the *';rls, a little tot of HI, hud got or. to he racket and telephoned up to police headquarters to put a stop to her laughter's marriage and hold her until she came. The police went in just after the minister, and .when they made their business known, the minister refused to marry either couplo. The party was escorted to polios headquarters to await the arrival of the irate parent, in the meantime the ot her couplo wero very much put out about their calculations, also being frustrated They sent for the -dieriff to marry them, but he begged to he excused as he wus a little green in that business. Finally Mr. J. M. Hen net t came to their rc'cuo by announcing that ho was a notary public and would marry them. They readily accepted his offer and were made man and wife at police headquarters.
