On Wednesday a negro by the name of Spencer Rice was burning jome brash or logs and carelessly let the fire get out in the woods, and caused a big forest fire, burning the argo timber land some 200 acres between Mr. M. B. Lee's and Mr. Dave Gist's place's. The fire gained such terrible headway that the flames were seen to leap 400 to 500 yards and take new hold. Mr. Lee and bis entire family had the hardest kind of work to save his tenoing, by raking and firing against the coming Eire.
