SPRING FASHIONS IN NEW YORK I DISTRIBUTE DISPENSARY FUNDS Imported Costumes and Practical Suits-Fancy Effects in Stripes and Checks-Very Light Colorings Brown, Black and Navy Blue Devices Used to Produce the Trim ? *-nirc-Lines That Present Modes -Aiand. V - For the past few weeks New York has been having a veritable "Carnival of Fashion," though this is the sea? son of sackcloth. Opening after open? ing has been held at the representa? tive stores, and at the more private -establishments where fine attire is dealt in to say nothing of the displays of practical suits made by manufac? turers here. Winding Up Commission Will Proba? bly Deposit Funds in Banks Throughout the State. Very Light Colors. White or . very ' light colored grounds with colored stripes, as well as checks, are among the most not? able showings of the season. Won? derfully elaborate effects are obtain? ed by using, in the same suit, stripes running lengthwise, across, and "biased at different angles. The whole trimming effect being obtained, by these line arrangements. Columbia, April ll.-The dispen? sary commission did little yesterday save routine work. If all the ac? counts tb at are presented to the commission by whiskey houses and others were paid there would be ab? solutely no doubt as to the insolvency of the institution. It is very probable that no addi? tional funds will be deposited with the Columbia banks. It is known that a proposition will be made to the commission by one of the mem? bers to divide the money among the banks of the State, placing deposits in Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Charleston and other cities. "The Columbia banks are not any more entitled to this money than those of other cities and towns in this State," said a member of the commission. "We are . responsible for the money wherever it is placed, and I believe it would be better to distribute it among the banks of the State."
