SWITCHMAN KILLED Jesse Coningham Killed by Jump leg Prom Engine. Sonday morning, Jesse Coningham, said to be from Florence, met his death ia jump >ng from the shifting eogioe at the rail? road yard. The body was fou od lying near tba track with the neck ' broken ?od bead badly bruised. It is thought that he jumped while the engioe was ruoniog at a rapid speed and he fell hitting bis be?d against an iron rail near tbe track. After examining a few witnesses, the coroner's jury rendered the verdict: "That th? deceased came to his death from causes unknown to the jory." Mr. Co ningham's body was taken home by bis father, M?. W. A. Coningham, of Flor? ence Monday afternoon. The deceased was a popular young mao of that town, coming to Sumter only this year. Senator Tillman to be Elect? ed Again-Strange Mistake of Law-Makers. Colombia, Jan 21.-The senate transacted no more business tonight than was absolutely necessary.
