The Cotton Plant, notwithstanding the cold weather of the past week, is still bloom? ing;. The fifth number is on our table, filled to the brim with good things. Farmers would do well to subscribe for this journal. It is pablished monthly for the very low price of sixty cents, and any of oar sub? scribers who wish it caa have their carnes forwarded through oar oihce. The Fair. The Fair opens to-day, and the officials are up to their ears in work. The gentlemen at the head of this enterprise are doing all ic their power to make this Fair somethicg of J which we may be proud. The premium list bas more than 300 premiums offered for field crops, vegetables, household productions, fruits, domestic wineg, horses, cattle, poultry, ?c., kc. Tournaments, rifle shooting and other amusements will vary the monotony of j inspecting big potatoes, fat hogs and huge turkeys. The ladies will find much to inter? est and amuse. Machinists and mechanics cac gratify themselves inspecting the various engines.and mechaoical devices, and perhaps an influx of brass buttons and gay uniforms may add additional interest to the numerous attractions.
