Volstead, who repersented the 7th Minnesota Dis trict in Congress for eighteen years, was beaten by a coalition of those opposed to Prohibition and the NonPartisan League. The Rev. 0. J. Kvale, who was victorious in Monday's primaries, has been an active worker for Prohibition for twenty-six years, but the main idea the wets had in mind was to defeal: Volstead for the psychological effect it would have throughout the country.
