When the sale started at Nelson's warehouse this morning the floor was well filled and the street in front of the warehouse was crowded with wagons. Crawford. o The five lots in Kingstree sold at public auction Monday in front of the court house in foreclosure proceedings brought a substantial price and wgre purchased, one by Mr. David Silverman, two by W. N. Jacobs and W. R. Scott and two by Toney Chandler. The lots are located on the west side of town in what is known as the "Roost" section. o Democratic Club Organized At a citizens meeting held in the court house last Friday night, The Kingstree Democratic Club was reorganized. Officers of the club were chosen as follows: \Y. H. Welch, president; F. W. Fairy, vice-president, J. D. Britton, secretary. Executive committee: A. C. Hinds, Thos. McCutchen. M. A. Shuler, R. B. Smith, and Donald Montgomery. Registration committee: J. F. Scott, C. C. Burgess and A. M. Gor don. On the motion of A. C. Hinds the Rules of the State Temocratic primary with such changes as will suit local conditions were adopted. Owing to the rain only a few people were present. o Enjoyable Entertainment The Ladies Bible class of the Baptist church were charmingly entertained at the home of Mrs. Bessie Steele last Friday night from 9 "0 11 o'clock. The guests were entertained with a guessing contest, "A Romance of the Baptist Ccurch" which is given below in its entirety. The words in quotations were blank and had to be filled in by the guests. They are nouns representing the names of various members of the church: A Romance of The Baptist Church Some years ago, near an old mill stream, there lived a "Brown" eyed maid whose father was a "Miller". N'ot far away there lived an old la<jy "Ander-son. This son sang as sweetly as a "Byrd" and was known far and wide as an accomplished "Harper". Often in the evening, he would "Steele" to the maid's window and sing love songs. This enraged the old man who was a "Wise" man but rather severe. Once he heard the maid exclaim. Oh! you are a "Deery" and he became so angry, he threw a huee "China" dish at the lover. The young man exclaimed "That "Shuler" "Nettles" me", but his love was so "Strong" he was willing to "Gamble" for another chance. Fortunately this time "Tru-luck" was with him as the old man had gone on a "Jurnigan" to St "Lewis". The next day the church bell was rung by the "Sexton" and there was a hasty wedding. The young couple spent their honey-moon at "Sullivan's" Island and their life was like a "Christmas" "Holliday" ever after.
