There were a great | many patrons and friends present, 1 among whom were: Messrs W E i Snowden and G Ollie Epps, who H made speeches appropriate to the I occasion. The latter offered a medal Iio ir e pupil, in tne advanced grades, who should make the most improvement during the ensuing year; while Mr Snowden offered one to the child in the intermediate grades ? making the highest average. The school is very grateful to these gentlemen for their expressions of i?3 interest, which will, no doubt, serve t as an incentiue to more earnest eft forts on the part of the teachers as | well as the children. 9 School opened last session with an I enrollment of sixty-four.
