LINES FROM NESMITH. "Happy Boy" Picks Up Many Items of Interest. Nesmith, August 16:?There was a surprise chicken supper given at Mr J E Johnson's last Friday night in honor of Mrs Phoebe Johnson and Miss Pope Lewis of Barnsville, N C. It was a cloudy, rainy evening when the merry guests began to gather, but in a short time the crowd had assembled at the tobacco barn and enjoyed a grand time while the chicken was cooking. There were games of different kinds played by the young folk while the older ones sit and looked on. Those present were: Misses Lena McElveen, Daisy Mobley, Winnie McLaulin, Pope T -otitic! T.illio .Tnhn?r?n nnH RprnifP Dicker; Messrs Daniel Mobley, Paul McElveen, Maxie Hemingway, Bennie Waldron, Laurie Lewis, Luther, Fred and Kelly Johnson, while Mr and Mrs Johnson chaperoned the party. Mrs Alice Dicker of Fremont, N C, is spending awhile at home with her parents, Mr and Airs J E Johnson. Mrs Phoebe Johnson and Miss Pope Lewis returned to their homes at Barnsville last Monday, after visiting relatives in this section during the past week. Mr Sam Waldron spent last Sunday with his parents, Mr and Mrs R G Waldron. Mr and Mrs V D Harper spent last Sunday in this section. J Master Leland Dicker is spending awhile with his grandparents, Mr and Mrs J E Johnson. Mrs J J Tart and her father and " ' ' rrt l i lf_ T children spent last ruesaay at wr j E Johnson's. Mr9 Mae Register and children, who have been spending some time with her parents, Mr and Mrs J M Godwin, returned home at Greedesville last Friday. Happy Boy. Farshman?Aronson. The Bayonne (N J) Evening Times of August 9 says: A very pretty home wedding took place last night at 8 o'clock at the residence of Mr and Mrs Abram Furshman, on West Fortieth street, when their daughter, Miss Henrietta Furshman, was united in marriage to Mr Samuel Aronson, of Lanes, S C. The ceremony was performed by the Rev Koenigson, of Beth Abraham Synagogue, and took place under a floral canopy of white roses and trailing vines. The parlors were handsomely decorated with palms, ferns and roses. It was a pink and white wedding. The bride's gown was of white pussy * willow taffeta, over which were two tiers of white tulle edged with taffeta and an aprqn effect of white Chantilly lace. The edge of the skirt was in scallops. The bodice was decolette with a bolero of pearls. The veil was draped in cap effect, caught with lillies of the valley, and she carried a shower bouquet of bride roses and valley lillies. The matron of honor, Mrs Jacob G Furshman, sister-in-law of the bride, was in white satin gown edged with pink rosebuds, and the bridesmaid, Miss Sara Aronson, a niece of the groom, was in white taffeta with rosebud trimming. Both attendants wore white Georgette crepe crownless^hats with a pink band across top, and carried bouquets of pink roses and sweet peas. The escorts were Jacob G Furshman and Michael Furshman. The groom's gift to the bride was a beautiful diamond necklace. The bride's gifts to hqr attendants were pearl and diamond bar pins, and the groom's gift to the escort was gold cuff buttons. An elaborate wedding banquet followed the ceremony, the tables being decorated with masses of pink roses. The large wedding cake was cut by the bride and distributed to the guests. Mr and Mrs Aronson departed on their wedding trip and will spend three weeks at Atlantic City, after which they will be for several weeks in the mountains of i* nni *n I. iNortn uaronna. iney win maKe their future home in Lanes, South Carolina, where a handsomely furnished home is awaiting them. The bride's going-away gown was of cream Palm Beach cloth topped by a white velour hat. Preceding the ceremony a reception to her nine nephews and nieces was held by the bride. The presents received were numerous and costly, and comprised cut glass, silver, furniture and jewelry.
