The first of the large White house receptions took place Thursday night when the President welcomed the diplomats of all the nations represented at to.e capital and hundreds of guests invited to meet them. It is customary at all of these receptions to iaclude in the invitations all of the members of congress aud among those with whom the President shook hand3 were a ftrge number who had in their pockets notes of the ad dresses to be made iriday excoriating Mr Roosevelt for his Secret Service message.
