S.O. i TMUHSDAY, NOVEMBER 10. 1903. , DELINQUENTS SHOULD PAY. Open Letter That Every One Should ] Read Who Owes for the Paper. ( Fellow Citizens of Williamsbuog 1 flnnnfc vv"""'' * I I We have a splendid county paper in The County Record aud it is 1 our duty to show our appreciation by giving it aid and support in a mate ] rial way. I will therefore oak all < delinquent subscribers to pay up < without any more urging on the part i of the editor. It doesn't hurt a pa- ' per much to lose four or five dollars 1 on dead heads; but when it comes to losing four or five hundred dollars ] thrt is a different matter and it hits j the newspaper man pretty hard. 1 Now. Mr. Editor, I have a prope- I sition to offer. It is this: Appoint < an agent at every postoffice in the county and send him a list of all who are in arrears for collection, and I 1 for one, if I should be appointed, . would not charge anything for my r. . work. i Now, I will say to those who ara raising children that they cannot make abetter investment of a dollar than to take The Record. The . children will soon learn to love to read it ana it win prove almost; a schooling for them. In closing, I willqnote what that great and good man, Dr C H Spur- 1 mL .geon, had to say on the subject of ' debt* ( , "Debtors can hardly help being liars, for they promise to pay when j they kuow that they cannot; and a when they have made up a lot of false excuses they promise again, and #so they lie a3 fast as a horse can trot. ' I should be as comfortable with peas 1 in ray shoes, or a hedgehog in my ^ bed, or a snake my back, as with . biljl^bawginr riri r ray head at the 1 ^^ fnnting offico. , Amicus. 1 (By a remarkable coincidence that ( seems like thought suggestion the ? foregoing letter touches upon a subject that we treated editorially f last week and is excellent supplemental reading to our remarks, although this letter was not received , until our article had been put in type. We thank this esteemed friend for . his disinterested kindness and it is to i be hoped that his appeal in connec- . tion with ours will bear fruit in the way of hastening tardy delinquents to pay up. If we had a thousand ] subscribers like this correspondent there would be no need ever to send outa bill for subscription and "dun- 1 ning" would grow obsolete Editor County Record. i m m ( NOT A SICK DAY SINCE. i "I was taken severely sick with kidney trouble.
