The writer had the pleasure of mingling with a number of friends last Friday at the '*cut down'' ground, on Black river, to enjoy a picnic. Although everything conspired to make the day a pleasapt one I. could not but feel a tinge of melancholy in contemplation of the past, realizing that some oi my friends whom I met there two years ago had passed into the great Beyond. Iu consequence of this, however, it brought me to a deeper realization of my friendship lor those who were present. It is due to. the fair dames of this vicinity, who provided a most delicious and sumptuous dinner notwithstanding the hard times, that there was spread before us 'everythingimaginable to tempt the appetite of a LuctlHus. The river, too, contributed its share to the feast in the way of appetizing and j luscious bream and perch of the1 finest description. After dinner boat-riding was the principal diversion, and so far as I could discern through the perspective the sincere and susceptible youths, were plighting their everlasting, undying and unceasing affection to the pretty and sympathetic maids, and Mr. Editor,-there were some prettv girljS there, F. ^.'VWWWW WV WWW WWW?. | Epps Etchings.
