Uayaes, a respected white woman. was ravished by a negro [brute, Julius Gibbs, The nezro came to the house on a pretenseof bucinese, Mrs. Ilavnes1 husband beinc absent. Mrs. Haynes went I bo the door with a baby in her |nrms. After a few momenta conversation the burly brute rushed 'up the steps and overpowered the helpleas victim, snatching thechild and throwing it aside. Mrs. Harnes never lost consciousneaa and when she was released ran to a neighbors house and gave the alarm. Meantime the negro had Bed. A posse was sooa gathered, with Sheriff Burch at the head. Another pile of crossties were set on fire here last Wednesday by sparks from an engine, but fortunately the fire was discovered and put out before any serious damage was aone. Mr. W. P.
