AUGUST I, I9CI. RAILROAD FACILITIES. We believe there is nearly twice as much busiuess done at. Kingstree depot as there is at any other raildioad station in Williamsburg county. Kingstree is the capital oi the county, and this of itself causes a good deal of business to come here. And it has .always seerred strange to us that the railroad agent at Kiugstree depot was not furnished an assistant. j lie wurer Knows tu.-uethins about business himself and its r(u]uirenm'.s, ami without .'ear of contridiction we unlip>i? :tin^!y say Ilu-re is as much work at ivinjrsjree denot from Septenibo: ]-t till April Isi as anv two men ou^'il to tin, an ! it's an impoi'ioi: 0:1 the pari of the railroad company to expect one man to do it. and while one mi^h* j;o through with if, yet he couM not attend to it as it should be done, and the people of Kinystree amlsflfroundiny country should briny this matter tQ-the attention of the authnr^jt-Tes and a>k thai an assistant be furnished our nreseat assent so f ' that he could be enabled duriny tlie busy season to dispatch business promptly. '!!:?* people pay for the privilege of h.iviny their ireiyht handled and thev should yet it done in a business-like man ner. Kings! ree has as competent an agent, we suppose, as there is on the coast, line. He is a thorough business man, but. he is human and alter all. can do so much and 110 more, and its impossible lor him to do the work ol two men. It not only shortens his days but it causes dissatisfaction among the patrons of the road; this matter should be looked after and remedied at once. V'e have only one freight train a dav?me day from Charleston, next day from Florence?and the freight IbrKnigstree is packed in solid cars and put off here on the side track, and ii people gel the freight tlie day it arives they have to take it out of these box cars. It would take one hand to load and unload those cars alone and anv one with a thimble lull ot sense would know that the agent could uot attend to the loading and unloading of these cnsaulattcnl to his duties as ? 1 ? depot agent besides. Now we \ ? * % dontv. ::: ' to be misunderstood: '1 I, jwe are snong railroad people,!' but we can never forget onr people, their interests and their rights j 'and while life lasts we shall ever j. j hold these saered and cry out for <! ! the people's rights. Yet railroads j1 arc almost as necessary as the sun j' that shines, but they should be j run with svstern and be a blessing! i to the people, as they are intend- jj ed to be. Give Kings!roe an as- . i J J sislurit railroad airent and ail wiil H I be weil. * I In mentioning improvements j! ail along the line in Kingstree, j( I it's never our intention to slight j anyone, but on the contrary we * want to ] !esc everybody and get' everybody plea-ed with them-; selves and with Kingstree more! especially, and get them to joiiJ, Willi us heart and soul lor the upbuilding ; our city.
