The annual reuuion of the veterans c f the Moots Cross Roads section will be held at Bethel Baptist church on Saturday, the 27th. An interesting and enjoyable occasion is expected. On account of the vary threatening weather the festival Friday night was not as it would have been under favorable conditions. The crowd numbered about two hundred mostly children and young folks. "The chain gang has done and is continuing to do good work ou the road leading from here to Lynch' burg. What we say is, we believe, upon good authority. At Murphy's v branch the embankment was thrown up sufficiently high for all ordinary and most extraordinary waters and the waterway was made twelve feet wider than it was before, At Chat branch near Mr. C. \V. Webster's an embankment 19 to 25 feet wide and above all danger cf anything like ordinary iioods was built fr)rn one hill to the #?ther. In the waterway, which is u*. V ?
